ABOUT SAINT ANN SCHOOL

Saint Ann School, in Milford, CT is a parish community working together to create a warm, supportive, learning environment where its students, with the guidance of the clergy, faculty and parents, develop spiritually, intellectually, physically, and emotionally.

Spiritually, the students are taught the importance of God in their lives and are nurtured in strong Catholic values. These values stress the importance of personal commitment to self and others. Through the teachings and example of Jesus Christ, the clergy, faculty and parents collaborate on helping to build a strong faith community.

Recognizing individual learning styles, the faculty works with students to reach their intellectual potential. The faculty emphasizes to students that learning is a lifelong process. They guide students in that process by motivating, encouraging, and supporting them in their efforts. Realizing the role of parent/guardian as prime educator of children, the faculty relies on assistance and cooperation of parents/guardians in the intellectual development of each student.

The physical development of students is promoted through their participation in physical education classes, the health curriculum, and drug and alcohol awareness programs. Through their involvement in these programs, students are encouraged to develop a respect for their personal wellness.

Through a varied calendar of social activities we encourage students to develop interpersonal skills, sensitivity and an ability to get along with others. The teachings of the principles of democracy and the rights and responsibilities of citizenship help to prepare students for a successful entry into the world.

Appreciating that an important factor in life is a positive self- concept, students are encouraged to express and share their feelings. The faculty, with the assistance of parents/guardians, recognizes the individuality of each student and encourages them to realize they are special in their own right.
